Head-on collision in West Virginia kills 2

| Mar 8, 2019 | Auto Accident Injuries |

A head-on collision can be the scariest type. The drivers of the vehicles may see that the danger is imminent but be unable to prevent the crash from happening. A two-vehicle accident in Malden, West Virginia last week killed two occupants and sent three others to the hospital with critical injuries. Authorities have not released any information as to the cause of the crash. It is unclear whether the investigation is still ongoing at this time.

The crash occurred late in the afternoon last Wednesday at the intersection of Jonquil Drive and U.S. 60. For reasons that are still unclear, a pickup truck traveling eastbound allegedly crossed the median into the westbound lanes and collided with the car.

Each vehicle contained three occupants, for a total of six people involved in the crash. The two people who died were occupants of the car, a 39-year-old man and his 12-year-old stepson. The man’s wife was driving the car. She received multiple fractures in the crash and underwent extensive surgery the next day, but her prognosis for recovery appears to be good. Medical personnel expect that two occupants of the pickup that also went to the hospital with serious injuries will recover as well.

Relatives of the family members in the car gathered at the hospital and reported that they are leaning on each other for support. It is not only the occupants of an involved vehicle that a car accident affects, and those dealing with the aftermath of a collision may find it useful to consult an attorney.
